Windows Azure updates have been coming thick and fast in 2013, it clear that Microsoft is really trying to place themselves as a viable business alternative to Amazon EC2. As it stand it includes a number of features with corresponding developer services which can be used individually or together. Push notification support is currently being given the most love and fits in to the “Microsoft as a service” company.
This particular service update enables you to access an easy-to-use, multiplatform, and scaled-out push infrastructure, which greatly simplifies the implementations for Windows Store (WNS), Windows Phone (MPNS), iOS (APNS), and Android (GCM) applications. Essentially if you are a developer you can reach out to every mainstream device an interact directly with them, and conversely, have any any device interact with you app backend. Cross platform development just got another piece added to the puzzle!
